We are hosting our 3rd Vinyl night on Friday 2nd December 2016. Sort of a warm up to the Christmas party season but spinning real vinyl records.
My Time has a late 70’s retro vibe to it with the décor and ambience to match. We try to deliver the pop culture that I grew up on during the period. Collecting and playing vinyl records is something I have always done and still love to do. The sound you get, the smell of the vinyl, the artistic quality of a lot of the album covers is something that has always stayed with me.
We’ve a growing collection of albums, 45’s and 12” singles that our customers can have a look through, as well as books to remind you of the bands and artists, this lead to the inception of our first Vinyl Night when a few customers said that they had vinyl records but nothing to play them on. The night has grown and it’s an opportunity for like-minded people to chill out, listen to sounds spanning mainly the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and perhaps even bring their own vinyl and get to spin and mix their own tracks on some Techniques decks. It would be great if eventually the night becomes an opportunity for collectors to swop or even buy and sell records. We had quite a mixed group last time but as Vinyl is making a bit of a comeback and reaching out in to the main stream again it would be wonderful to some younger people come along and perhaps listen to tracks first experienced on vinyl records.
We also had a pop quiz on Vinyl Night 2 where the winner got a Whitney Houston album and a Commodores single so we will do that again, it was fun! So let’s see what I can find for Vinyl Night 3 prizes.
